Report: Chelsea and Manchester United interested in signing Gregor Kobel
By Tushar Bahl
English Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, rumours are already in full swing. Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is said to be attracting the interest of a number of English Premier League clubs, with Sport1 reporting that representatives from Chelsea held an initial meeting with one of his advisors last week.
The report adds that Manchester United are also interested in signing the Switzerland international, who has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga with his exemplary performances for BVB this season.
Kobel has said on a number of occasions that he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and wants to win trophies with the club. It was also reported recently that Bayern Munich are considering him as a potential long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer. But the 25 year old made it clear that he has no interest in a move to Bavaria.
Gregor Kobel has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers over the last 18 months, and has delivered several match-winning performances for the club. So it is no surprise that a number of big clubs are interested in signing him.
Kobel, who joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart in 2021, still has more than three years left on his current contract with the club. He is considered to be one of the most important players in the BVB squad, and those in charge are unlikely to want to sell him anytime soon.
