Report: No final decision yet on Raphael Guerreiro’s future
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund have seemingly yet to make a final decision on Raphael Guerreiro’s future beyond the end of the season, contrary to media claims.
Raphael Guerreiro’s contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the season, and it has been widely reported in recent months that he will not be receiving a contract extension at the club. But SportBILD are now claiming that the Black and Yellows have not made a final decision on his future as of yet.
Borussia Dortmund are said to be on the verge of signing Ramy Bensebaini, who will join on a free transfer when his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach expires at the end of the season.
It was thought that the Algerian international would replace Guerreiro in the BVB squad. But SportBILD claim it is possible that Borussia Dortmund could go into the new season with both Bensebaini and Guerreiro in the squad.
Guerreiro has been replaced by Julian Ryerson as the club’s first-choice left-back in recent weeks. Edin Terzic used the Portuguese international in midfield during the Bundesliga clash against Schalke 04 last weekend. And he made a big impact, scoring one goal and setting up another during the 2-2 draw.
Raphael Guerreiro has a total of four goals and nine assists to his name in 26 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund so far this season. The 29 year old, who joined BVB from FC Lorient in 2016, has said in the past that he feels comfortable at the club and would be willing to extend his contract beyond the end of the season.
