Marco Reus has once again stated that he wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund until the end of his playing career.
Marco Reus made history on Saturday evening as he overtook Michael Zorc and moved up to second place in Borussia Dortmund’s list of all-time top goalscorers. The BVB captain also notched up his 150th goal in the Bundesliga, becoming just the 16th player in the league’s history to reach that feat.
After the game, Reus spoke about his future which remains uncertain at the moment. The 33 year old’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the season. But he once again made it clear on Saturday that he would like to end his playing career with the Black and Yellows. In an interview with Sky Sport, Reus said:
"“I have said it in the past weeks, months, years that I would like to end my career here. I feel really good. We are in talks, everything else will become clear in the coming weeks.”"
It has been reported in recent weeks that Borussia Dortmund are willing to offer Marco Reus a contract extension. But he would need to take a pay cut in order to stay with the club beyond the end of the season.
On the pitch, Reus remains an important player for Borussia Dortmund. The playmaker has eight goals and seven assists to his name in 21 appearances across all competitions this season. Injuries and illness have forced him to spend significant time on the sidelines. But he has made a big impact whenever he has played this season.
Marco Reus continued his fine run of form on Saturday as he scored a brace to help Borussia Dortmund earn a dominant 6-1 win over FC Köln.
