Borussia Dortmund internationals: Jude Bellingham impresses again for England
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham put in another strong display in midfield as England secured a 2-0 win over Ukraine on Sunday.
Jude Bellingham started for England once again as they faced Ukraine on matchday two of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. And the Borussia Dortmund midfielder impressed once again as the Three Lions claimed a comfortable 2-0 win.
Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka were on target for the Euro 2020 runners-up, who maintained their perfect start to their qualifying campaign for next summer’s European Championships in Germany.
Bellingham played with great energy and intent, and also came close to scoring for England. He was subbed off in the 86th minute, with the game already in the bag for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Raphael Guerreiro was left out of the matchday squad as Portugal ended their international break with a dominant 6-0 win over Luxembourg. It is currently unclear why the 29 year old was not included in the squad by head coach Roberto Martinez.
Meanwhile, Nico Schlotterbeck has left the Germany training camp and will not feature in their friendly match against Belgium on Tuesday. The Borussia Dortmund centre-back is dealing with a thigh problem, Germany have announced.
Schlotterbeck was forced to come off during Germany’s win over Peru on Saturday. But head coach Hans Flick gave the defender the all-clear after the game, and said that he was dealing with a cramp.
Borussia Dortmund’s next game is against Bayern Munich on Saturday, and the hope will be that Schlotterbeck can recover in time to feature in that game.
