Report: Borussia Dortmund ready to offer Gregor Kobel a new contract
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to offer Gregor Kobel a new contract amid interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Gregor Kobel has hardly put a foot wrong for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. The Swiss shot-stopper still has more than three years left on his current BVB contract. But according to Blick, the Black and Yellows are already looking to extend his contract.
The report claims that Borussia Dortmund are determined to fend off interest from other clubs and make sure that the goalkeeper stays at the club for the long-term. Kobel’s exemplary performances for BVB have seen him attract the interest of a number of big clubs. Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea are all said to be interested in signing the Switzerland international.
Blick add that the BVB bosses would probably need to hand Kobel an annual salary in the region of 12-13 million euros if they want to extend his contract. That would make him one of the highest paid players at the club.
Gregor Kobel has stated in the past that he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and that he wants to win trophies with the club. The 25 year old joined BVB from VfB Stuttgart in 2021, and has quickly become one of the most important players at the club. He was forced to miss a number of games due to a muscle injury, but is now fully fit again and is closing in on his return to action.
