Edin Terzic: Gregor Kobel is the reason Borussia Dortmund went into Der Klassiker as league leaders

Edin Terzic has given his backing to Gregor Kobel after his error cost Borussia Dortmund during their 4-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Gregor Kobel had a game to forget on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund fell to a 4-2 defeat in their top of the table clash against Bayern Munich. The Switzerland international’s careless error gifted Bayern their first goal.
Kobel ran towards the edge of the box, looking to launch a long ball from Dayot Upamecano up the field. But he missed his kick and the ball went into an empty net, allowing Bayern Munich to take the lead.
A quick-fire brace from Thomas Müller then helped the Bavarians put the game out of Borussia Dortmund’s reach mid-way through the first half. And a second half fight-back proved to be too little, too late, as the Black and Yellows fell to second place in the Bundesliga standings.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic was full of praise of Kobel despite his blunder against Bayern Munich. The 40 year old hailed the shot-stopper as one of the reasons why BVB went into the game as league leaders. In an interview with Sky Sport, Terzic said:
"“We must not forget that this man is the reason why we came into the game as the league leaders. We all make mistakes and we know that we can rely on him very often.”“And we will continue to do that in the future. He’s sorry, but it’s important to me that we put things in perspective. He’s the reason we were league leaders.”"
Gregor Kobel has single-handedly helped his side win matches on a number of occasions this season. Although Saturday’s error was his second of the season, and both have proven to be very costly for BVB.
But the 25 year old remains one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga, and he will be aiming to find his form again when Borussia Dortmund face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
