Edin Terzic felt that Borussia Dortmund were simply not good enough on Wednesday as they crashed out of the DFB-Pokal after losing to RB Leipzig.

Borussia Dortmund’s nightmare start to April continued on Wednesday evening as they were handed a well deserved 2-0 defeat by RB Leipzig in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal. The defeat meant that the Black and Yellows missed out on what was arguably their best opportunity to lift silverware this season.

Borussia Dortmund were second best from start to finish, with RB Leipzig taking charge of the game right from the get go. And Edin Terzic felt that BVB did not deserve to go through to the semifinals of the DFB-Pokal after their disastrous start against Leipzig. In an interview with ZDF after the game, Terzic said:

"“We played a disastrous first half. We started the game very poorly and have Gregor Kobel to thank for it being only 1-0 at the break. We then showed some improvement in the second half. But it was not enough to go through to the next round. We’re annoyed. You can’t play like that in the quarterfinals if you want to win the DFB-Pokal.”"

Wednesday’s defeat means that Borussia Dortmund have now won just one of their last five games. They have suffered highly damaging defeats against Chelsea, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig. And the optimism brought by BVB’s stunning start to 2023 has quickly evaporated.

Borussia Dortmund will now turn their attentions to the Bundesliga, where they are two points behind league leaders Bayern Munich with eight games left before the end of the season. Edin Terzic still believes that they have a good chance to win the Bundesliga title this season if they manage to win all their remaining games.

"“The desire and the will to win (the Bundesliga title) is undisputed. We see the opportunity that lies ahead of us and will fight for every win. And if we manage to win all our games, we will have a good chance of becoming German champions.”"
