Mats Hummels still undecided on Borussia Dortmund future

Mats Hummels has yet to make a final decision on his Borussia Dortmund future, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
The future of Mats Hummels remains uncertain with just over two months left on his Borussia Dortmund contract. The BVB bosses would like to keep the veteran centre-back at the club beyond the end of the season, and a new one year contract is already on the table for him. But Hummels has yet to make a decision on his future.
According to BILD, Hummels wants to take his time before making a final decision on what he wants to do beyond the end of the season. The 34 year old is weighing up his options at the moment, which include staying at Borussia Dortmund, moving abroad, or ending his playing career.
It has been a roller coaster of a season so far for Mats Hummels, who rejoined Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2019.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner was one of the Black and Yellows’ top performers in the first half of the season, and rolled back the years with some of his displays. But he has fallen behind Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck in the pecking order since the turn of the year. Still, he has been a largely reliable presence in defence whenever called upon.
Hummels would need to take a pay cut if he wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the season. But BILD add that doing so would not be an issue for him.
