Sebastian Kehl: Borussia Dortmund have “no new status” on Jude Bellingham’s future
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has stated that they have not received any new offers for Jude Bellingham.
Borussia Dortmund managed to come away 6-0 winners against VFL Wolfsburg this past Sunday, with England international Jude Bellingham once again playing a starring role in the impressive victory. Bellingham scored two goals, both in the second half, that helped put the game well beyond Wolfsburg and kept the pressure on Bayern Munich in the title race.
It’s no surprise however that the attention around Bellingham is clearly not all about his performances with the player’s alleged agreement with Real Madrid for a move this summer coming to light last week.
In the lead up to Sunday’s game, Sebastian Kehl answered a few questions, some of which revolved around Bellingham’s future. So far, according to BVB’s sporting director, the club have “no new status” on the player’s situation, with Kehl being very clear that he did not want to fuel speculation.
Kehl was however very understanding that a player of Jude’s ability could be lured by the prospect of playing for a club like Real Madrid. He remained very stalwart in his stance however, stating that:
"“It is not surprising that the rumors about a player like Bellingham are now picking up speed once again. Currently there is no new status, there is no offer and nothing new to announce."
Much of what Kehl didn’t say is also very important. While he is of course obligated to keep any sort of negotiations under wraps at this time, it is clear that Jude Bellingham’s future is being heavily considered by the club behind the scenes. With the title race still in full swing however, the club’s focus will remain on pushing Bayern until the last match day, with any major breakthrough in terms of Jude’s future only likely to be announced after the season’s conclusion.
