Young Borussia Dortmund forward Justin Njinmah will likely return to Werder Bremen when his loan spell finishes at the end of the season.

There has been plenty of speculation in recent weeks regarding the future of Justin Njinmah, who has been making waves for Borussia Dortmund II in the 3. Liga this season. The 22 year old joined the Black and Yellows on loan from Werder Bremen in January 2022. The BVB bosses have the option to make the move permanent when his loan spell expires at the end of the season.

But it looks like Borussia Dortmund will not try and sign Njinmah on a permanent transfer, with BILD claiming that the purchase option of 3 million euros makes him too expensive for the club. So the winger is set to make his return to Werder Bremen at the end of the season, where he will hope to break into the first-team.

Justin Njinmah, who is capable of playing both out wide and through the middle, has scored 11 goals and assisted a further five in 31 appearances in the 3. Liga so far this season. His performances have been crucial to Borussia Dortmund II’s rise up to 13th place in the 3. Liga standings, after they were threatened with relegation earlier in the season.

Njinmah has also been in the first-team squad on a couple of occasions, and made his debut for Edin Terzic’s side in September during the 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig. Now he will hope to make his Bundesliga breakthrough with Werder Bremen next season.
