Report: Borussia Dortmund have agreement on personal terms with Edson Álvarez
Borussia Dortmund have largely reached an agreement on personal terms with Edson Álvarez, who is the club’s top target for defensive midfield.
Borussia Dortmund’s interest in signing Edson Álvarez from Ajax is no secret. The Black and Yellows are said to be in pole position to sign the Mexico international this summer. And Ruhr Nachrichten are now reporting that the BVB bosses have largely reached an agreement on personal terms with the midfielder.
The newspaper adds that Borussia Dortmund have not yet submitted an official bid for Álvarez, but that will change in the near future. Official negotiations with Ajax are expected to get underway soon. Sebastian Kehl and co. will be holding talks with former BVB chief scout Sven Mislintat, who was appointed as Ajax’s Director of Football in April.
Ajax are expected to demand a transfer fee in the region of 35-40 million euros for the sale of Álvarez, who has attracted the interest of a number of big clubs in recent months.
Edson Álvarez is said to be interested in a move to Borussia Dortmund. And the BVB bosses are hoping that he can add some much needed aggressiveness and resilience to their midfield. The 25 year old is capable of playing in both defensive midfield and as a centre-back. He is not planned as the direct replacement for Jude Bellingham, who is increasingly likely to leave the Black and Yellows this summer.
Álvarez, who joined Ajax from Club América in 2019, has made a total of 147 appearances for the Dutch giants.
