Report: Borussia Dortmund considering Felix Nmecha as potential Jude Bellingham replacement
By Tushar Bahl
Wolfsburg midfielder Felix Nmecha is said to be one of the names on Borussia Dortmund’s list of targets as they look to replace the Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham.
Borussia Dortmund announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Jude Bellingham. The England international will join the Spanish giants for a fee of 103 million euros plus bonuses. The Black and Yellows will now look to bolster their midfield, and Ruhr Nachrichten claim that they are interested in signing Felix Nmecha.
According to the newspaper, the Wolfsburg midfielder is one of the names they are seriously considering. Talks are not at an advanced stage at the moment, but Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Nmecha is genuine.
The report adds that a move for Nmecha would cost around 20 million euros this summer. The 22 year old, who joined Wolfsburg from Manchester City in 2021, has just over two years left on his current contract.
Felix Nmecha is coming off an impressive season with Wolfsburg, and also won his first cap for Germany in March. The midfielder scored three goals and assisted a further six in the Bundesliga in the recently concluded season. He can play in a number of different roles in the middle of the park, and is capable of making an impact in the final third.
Sebastian Kehl and co. are currently pressing ahead with their plans to sign Edson Álvarez from Ajax. The Mexico international is primarily a defensive midfielder, so Borussia Dortmund will also look to sign someone who can play in the number eight role.
