Report: Borussia Dortmund hoping to wrap up €35 million Edson Álvarez deal in the coming week

Borussia Dortmund are set to step up talks with Ajax next week over the €35 million signing of defensive midfielder Edson Álvarez.
With an agreement already in place over the transfer of Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund will now press ahead with their transfer plans for this summer. First up on the Black and Yellows’ agenda is to bolster their defensive midfield ranks with the signing of Edson Álvarez. And BILD are claiming that BVB could complete the signing of the Mexico international in the coming week.
Borussia Dortmund are set to hold talks with Ajax director of football Sven Mislintat in the coming days, and a fee in the region of 35 million euros plus potential bonuses is being mentioned.
It was reported last month that the BVB bosses have already reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with Álvarez, who admitted recently that he could leave the Dutch side this summer in search for a new challenge.
Edson Álvarez, who has made a total of 147 appearances for Ajax since joining the club in 2019, has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea in recent months. But it appears that Borussia Dortmund are in pole position to sign him at the moment.
Álvarez is not the only midfielder Borussia Dortmund will look to bring in this summer, with a more attack-minded midfielder also on their wishlist. BVB have been linked with a move for Felix Nmecha this week, and BILD claim that the Wolfsburg midfielder will cost around 10-15 million euros.
