The 2022/23 season may have ended in heartache for Borussia Dortmund as they lost the league title on goal difference on the final matchday. But there is no denying that the journey was a very exciting one, with plenty of twists and turns. The Black and Yellows managed to put on a number of scintillating displays over the course of the campaign and here we will take a look at their five best performances from the recently concluded season.

Borussia Dortmund’s statement win against Wolfsburg

Borussia Dortmund managed to beat Wolfsburg 6-0 on matchday 31 to heap big pressure on Bayern Munich. Wolfsburg were chasing a European spot and arrived at the Signal Iduna Park having lost only one of their previous nine games. But Edin Terzic’s side delivered a performance of the highest quality to hand the Wolves a crushing defeat.

Karim Adeyemi and Jude Bellingham grabbed the headlines as they each scored a brace. Sebastien Haller and Donyell Malen were also on target in the convincing win. Adeyemi’s first goal was especially sublime, as he showed great athleticism to rise high up and find the back of the net.

It was Borussia Dortmund’s tenth straight at home in the league and it sent a clear message to the Bavarians that the title race was far from over.

Borussia Dortmund dominated possession and created plenty of opportunities, with 20 attempts on goal and an xG of more than 4. It was a complete performance from BVB, and undoubtedly strengthened belief in their title hopes.
