Report: Morten Hjulmand a strong candidate to replace Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund are said to be considering a move for Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand as they look to replace Jude Bellingham.
With Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid now official, Borussia Dortmund are working hard to bring in midfield reinforcements. The Black and Yellows have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks. According to BILD, Morten Hjulmand is a strong candidate to replace the England international.
The Denmark midfielder, who plays for Italian side Lecce, has only one year left on his current contract. And the tabloid claims that a move for him would cost around 15 million euros, making him a real bargain for Borussia Dortmund.
Morten Hjulmand is coming off an impressive season with Lecce, and captained the Italian minnows to a 16th place finish in the Serie A standings. The likes of Juventus and AS Roma are also said to be interested in signing the 23 year old.
Hjulmand is primarily a defensive midfielder, but is capable of playing in a variety of different roles in the middle of the park. He is known for his ability to work hard and press relentlessly, which would make him well suited to Edin Terzic’s style of play at Borussia Dortmund.
The BVB bosses are also interested in signing Edson Álvarez this summer. Although Ajax’s asking price of around 45 million euros may put the Mexico international out of their price range.
Hjulmand could prove to be a cheaper alternative, but a number of clubs are interested in signing him. So Borussia Dortmund will have to move quickly if they want to win the race for his signature.
