Report: Borussia Dortmund have interest in Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret
Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in Maxence Caqueret, although it remains to be seen if they will make a move for the Lyon midfielder this summer.
Borussia Dortmund’s midfield is facing a complete revamp this summer following the departures of Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Raphael Guerreiro. The Black and Yellows have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks. And Foot Mercato in France are now claiming that BVB have their eye on Maxence Caqueret.
The report claims that the 23 year old Lyon midfielder is on Borussia Dortmund’s shortlist, but adds that it remains to be seen if they will look to make a move for him this summer. Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in signing Caqueret, who has four years left on his current contract after signing an extension last year.
Maxence Caqueret came through the youth team ranks at Lyon before breaking into the first-team. The France U-21s international made a total of 40 appearances for the club in the recently concluded season, and registered an impressive four goals and seven assists. He is capable of playing both in defensive midfield and in the number eight role.
In addition to Caqueret, Borussia Dortmund also appear to have the likes of Edson Álvarez and Morten Hjulmand on their list of midfield targets. And it will be interesting to see which players Sebastian Kehl and co. ultimately decide to sign as they look to bolster their squad in the middle of the park this summer.
