Report: Gregor Kobel wants new Borussia Dortmund contract
By Tushar Bahl
Gregor Kobel wants Borussia Dortmund to offer him a new contract, and has reportedly been left surprised by the lack of talks so far.
Gregor Kobel has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers since joining the club from VfB Stuttgart in 2021. The Switzerland international is a key part of the team, and it was reported earlier this year that the BVB bosses are ready to extend his contract. But talks over an extension have not taken place yet, and a report from BILD claims that Kobel has been left somewhat surprised and irritated by this.
Despite this concern, it is thought that the two parties are in close contact and talks over a new contract will begin in due course. The tabloid adds that Kobel feels very comfortable at Borussia Dortmund, and he is not thinking about a move away from the club amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
Kobel is regarded very highly at the club, and those in charge are likely to offer him a leadership role in the team next season following the exit of Jude Bellingham. The 25 year old, who has established himself as one of the best performing goalkeepers in Europe, will have a crucial role to play next season in Borussia Dortmund’s bid to win the Bundesliga title.
There are still three years left on Gregor Kobel’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund. And the collective hope will be that the two parties can reach an agreement on a contract extension in the coming months.
