Report: Borussia Dortmund unlikely to sign Iván Fresneda

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly unlikely to sign Iván Fresneda, as the highly rated right-back would prefer to stay in Spain.
Borussia Dortmund have been in the race to sign Iván Fresneda for six months now. And it was widely reported time and time again that they were leading the race for his signature. But now it looks like they will be coming away empty-handed, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that the young right-back would prefer to stay in Spain.
The newspaper adds that Borussia Dortmund weren’t willing to pay the release clause of 20 million euros in Fresneda’s contract anyways. And now it appears that the BVB bosses will have to look elsewhere if they want to bring in a new right-back this summer.
Iván Fresneda is regarded as one of the most highly rated full-backs in Europe, and is coming off a breakthrough season in La Liga.
The 18 year old’s impressive performances helped him attract the interest of a number of big clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Juventus. His representatives recently had a meeting with FC Barcelona, as they look to secure a move away from Real Valladolid.
Marius Wolf, Julian Ryerson, Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey are the current right-back options in the Borussia Dortmund squad. Meunier is expected to leave the club this summer, while the future of Morey is also uncertain following his recent injury struggles.
If the Black and Yellows decide against signing a new right-back this summer, Wolf and Ryerson will likely share the role next season.
