Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of further strengthening their squad this summer could well be delayed due to the lack of sales.

It has been an underwhelming start to the summer for Borussia Dortmund, even if those in charge are still confident that they are well on track in their squad building plans. The Black and Yellows decided to pull out of the race to sign Edson Álvarez and Iván Fresneda, but are set to bring in the controversial Felix Nmecha from Wolfsburg as their Jude Bellingham replacement.

According to Kicker, Borussia Dortmund would like to further bolster their squad this summer by signing another midfielder, a right-back, and a back-up centre-back. But their plans to make more new signings could be derailed slightly as the planned player sales are not yet progressing at the desired pace.

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl underlined reducing the squad size of the first-team as one of his main goals for this transfer window. Thomas Meunier, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz are all free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. But the BVB bosses have yet to receive any concrete bids yet for them.

All three players have 12 months left on their current contracts, and it will be interesting to see what their futures look like beyond the end of the transfer window.
