Borussia Mönchengladbach are said to be examining the feasibility of signing Gio Reyna on a loan deal from Borussia Dortmund.
There has been a fair bit of speculation surrounding Gio Reyna’s future at Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. The USMNT international was reduced to a bit-part role last season, leading some to believe that BVB may look to sell him this summer in order to raise funds. Borussia Mönchengladbach are now said to be exploring the possibility of signing Reyna on a loan deal.
This is being reported by the Rheinische Post, who add that Gladbach’s interest in signing Reyna is genuine. But it remains to be seen if the financially struggling Foals will be able to pull off the move for the 20 year old.
Gio Reyna was limited to just 1014 minutes of playing time across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund last season. But following Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid, Reyna will hope for more opportunities in the starting XI next season.
Despite his lack of game time last season, Reyna managed to make a telling impact for Borussia Dortmund. He scored seven goals and assisted a further four last season, averaging a goal every 87 minutes in the Bundesliga.
Gladbach also have Gio Reyna’s good friend and international teammate Joe Scally in their ranks, which could potentially sway him. But the probability of Borussia Dortmund sending the attacking midfielder out on loan next season is very low. Reyna still has two years left on his current contract with the Black and Yellows.
