Thomas Meunier is closing in on a return to Belgium after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Club Brugge.

Borussia Dortmund right-back Thomas Meunier is expected to secure a move away from the club in the coming days after agreeing to join Club Brugge. This is being reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, who add that the Black and Yellows want a fee in the mid-seven-digit range. The 31 year old has reportedly reached an agreement with the Belgian side on a three year contract.

It has been widely reported in recent weeks that Borussia Dortmund want to sell Meunier this summer. FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Aston Villa have all been linked with a move for the right-back. But now it looks like he will return to Club Brugge, where he made his first-team breakthrough before moving to Paris Saint Germain.

Thomas Meunier joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from PSG in 2020. He has made a total of 75 appearances for the club, but hasn’t been able to make the desired impact on a consistent basis and also lost his spot in the team towards the end of last season. There are still 12 months left on Meunier’s current contract, but the two parties will look to part ways this summer.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to sign a new right-back this summer. And the hope will be that Meunier’s potential sale will speed up their plans. Marius Wolf, Julian Ryerson and Mateu Morey are the other right-back options in the BVB first-team squad at the moment.
