The Borussia Dortmund players who were on international duty last month began their preparations for the 2023/24 season on Saturday.

The likes of Sebastien Haller, Gregor Kobel, and new signing Ramy Bensebaini were at the Borussia Dortmund training ground on Saturday to undergo performance diagnostics tests and kick-start their pre-season programme.

All players who were away with their respective national teams last month were put through their paces on Saturday by the club’s athletics coaches. The performance diagnostics tests are done to determine the players’ performance and stamina levels and are important for preventing injuries.

Borussia Dortmund also announced that Gio Reyna completed an individual session on Saturday as he continues his recovery from the muscle injury he suffered while playing for the United States.

The players will step onto the training pitch at the beginning of next week. And an open training session is also scheduled for Tuesday, which will give fans a chance to watch the players in action. Edin Terzic’s side will then face Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Wednesday in their second pre-season friendly of the summer, before taking on Rot-Weiß Erfurt three days later.

Borussia Dortmund are also set to head to the United States later this month, where they will play three friendly matches; including two blockbuster games against Manchester United and Chelsea.
