11 Borussia Dortmund players called up for international duty
A total of 11 Borussia Dortmund players will be away with their respective national teams this month, with a number of crucial matches coming up.
The post-season international break is almost upon us and 11 Borussia Dortmund players have been called up to represent their respective national teams. Hansi Flick has named four Borussia Dortmund players in his squad for Germany’s upcoming triple-header.
Nico Schlotterbeck, Marius Wolf, Emre Can, and Julian Brandt have all been called up for Germany’s friendly matches against Ukraine, Poland and Colombia.
The Netherlands are one of four teams in contention to win the UEFA Nations League. And Donyell Malen has been named in their squad for the upcoming playoffs. Ronald Koeman’s side will face Croatia in the semifinals.
The CONCACAF Nations League playoffs will also take place this month, and the United States will take on Mexico in the semifinals. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Gio Reyna has been named in the USMNT squad, and will look to help them retain their title.
The UEFA European Under-21 Championship will get underway on June 21, and defending champions Germany have included Youssoufa Moukoko in their squad for the tournament. Germany U-21s will face England, Czech Republic and Israel in the group stage.
Switzerland have two crucial UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers coming up against Andorra and Romania, and Gregor Kobel has been included in their squad. Norway will look to get their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign back on track this month. Julian Ryerson is part of their squad to take on Scotland and Cyprus.
Salih Özcan has been called up by Turkey for their European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Wales. While Raphael Guerreiro, who will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the month, will represent Portugal as they face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland this month.
