Borussia Dortmund hoping for swift termination of Nico Schulz’s contract

Borussia Dortmund are looking to terminate the contract of left-back Nico Schulz, and are hoping for a resolution before the start of their US Tour next week.
Signing Nico Schulz has proved to be one of Borussia Dortmund’s most expensive mistakes in the transfer market in recent seasons. The left-back, who arrived from TSG Hoffenheim for a fee of around 25 million euros in 2019, has been a liability for the club both on and off the pitch. And the Black and Yellows have been trying to offload him for two years now, albeit unsuccessfully.
An agreement that secures Schulz’s exit could finally be in sight now, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that Borussia Dortmund are in talks to terminate his contract. The 30 year old will receive a one-time termination fee, and it could be in the region of 3-4 million euros.
Schulz will not be a part of the Borussia Dortmund squad that is due to travel to the United States for a pre-season tour on Monday. And the BVB bosses are hoping to reach an agreement on the termination of his contract before then.
Nico Schulz hasn’t played in a competitive game for Borussia Dortmund since May 2022. Those in charge allowed him to skip pre-season training this summer so he could hold talks with other clubs. But another club has not yet been found as of yet. And now it looks like BVB are ready to force the issue to ensure that he does not stay at the club for the final year of his contract.
