Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Julien Duranville for several weeks after the winger sustained a thigh injury during Thursday’s pre-season friendly against San Diego Loyal.
Julien Duranville will be sidelined for several weeks due to a torn muscle fibre in his thigh, Borussia Dortmund have announced. The highly rated winger picked up the injury during BVB’s pre-season friendly match against San Diego Loyal. He was forced to come off just minutes after scoring his first goal in Borussia Dortmund colours.
Duranville’s injury is another big blow for Borussia Dortmund ahead of the start of the season. Nico Schlotterbeck also picked up an injury during the clash against San Diego Loyal, and has left BVB’s training camp in the United States to undergo further tests.
In attack, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Gio Reyna are still recovering from their injuries. The Black and Yellows are hoping to have them fit before the start of the season, and Bynoe-Gittens made his return to training earlier this week.
Julien Duranville has already been forced to deal with a number of injuries over his fledgling career. The 17 year old was carrying a muscle injury when he joined Borussia Dortmund from RSC Anderlecht in January and had to miss the majority of the second half of the season. He made his BVB debut on the final day of last season, and showed glimpses of his quality.
While Duranville will likely miss the start of the new season, the hope will be that can recover from his injury soon and return to action before long.
