Another tough pre-season test awaits Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday as they take on Chelsea in the final game of their 2023 US Tour.
Borussia Dortmund will face Chelsea in Chicago on Wednesday evening. The game will be a repeat of last season’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie between the two sides. And while there isn’t much riding on this pre-season fixture, Edin Terzic will want to see a strong performance from his team as they look to carry some momentum into the new campaign.
The Black and Yellows have a slew of injury concerns ahead of the game, and a number of players are expected to be unavailable on Wednesday. That list includes Gregor Kobel, Nico Schlotterbeck, Gio Reyna, Julien Duranville, and Thomas Meunier.
We are unlikely to see too many changes to the Borussia Dortmund starting XI as a result. Sebastien Haller, Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen should form the front three. The Dutchman scored a brace in Sunday’s win over Manchester United.
Newly installed captain Emre Can should start in the number six role again on Wednesday, with Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt expected to join him in the middle of the park.
