Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic was full of praise of Ramy Bensebaini after his strong performance during the friendly match against Chelsea.
Left-back was a position Borussia Dortmund desperately needed to strengthen this summer. And the BVB bosses moved quickly to sign Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a four year contract.
The Algerian international joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer after his contract with Gladbach expired. And he has already made a strong impression on Edin Terzic. The BVB head coach was full of praise of Bensebaini after the pre-season friendly match against Chelsea.
"“Ramy hit the ground running from day one and has consistently demonstrated his ability in training and put himself forward for matches. We are very satisfied with that.”“He was very courageous in attack (against Chelsea), repeatedly showcased his quality and was really good in defence too. We hope that he continues like this.”"
Bensebaini has plenty of Bundesliga experience under his belt, having made 113 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach. He is regarded as one of the top left-backs in the Bundesliga. But the task of replacing Raphael Guerreiro, who spent seven years at BVB before joining Bayern Munich, will certainly not be an easy one.
Borussia Dortmund will hope that Ramy Bensebaini can bring some defensive resolve to the left-back position, something Guerreiro often struggled with. The 28 year old showed glimpses of his defensive quality against Chelsea earlier this week, and made a number of vital interceptions and tackles for his side.
Bensebaini is expected to be Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice left-back this season. Although the Black and Yellows also have Julian Ryerson in their ranks.
