Borussia Dortmund are once again being linked with a move for highly rated striker Hugo Ekitiké, who plays for Paris St. Germain.

It is being reported that Borussia Dortmund could potentially look to bolster their attacking ranks this month, with Sport1 claiming that Hugo Ekitiké is one of the names on their list. The report adds BVB’s interest in signing the 21 year old is indeed genuine, even if it is not very concrete at the moment.

Borussia Dortmund were considering a move for Ekitiké last summer as well, when they were looking for a replacement for Erling Haaland. The Black and Yellows ended up signing Sébastien Haller, while Ekitiké made the switch to PSG.

Now, reports are claiming that Borussia Dortmund are thinking about signing a new striker as Haller will be forced to miss a number of matches in January because he will be away with Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations. And there are some doubts at the club as to whether Youssoufa Moukoko can successfully lead the attack in the 29 year old’s absence.

Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen are also capable of playing up front. While U-23s summer signing Paul-Philipp Besong also featured for the first-team during pre-season.

It still remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund have the finances required to sign a new striker this summer. The BVB bosses are also hoping to bring in a new centre-back before the transfer window closes, with highly rated Red Star Belgrade defender Stefan Leković on their list of targets.
