A potentially tricky away game against VfL Bochum lies in store for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund did not enjoy the best of starts to their Bundesliga campaign last weekend, as they earned an unconvincing 1-0 win over FC Köln. Next up for them is a Ruhr Derby clash against VfL Bochum, who were handed a 5-0 hammering by Stuttgart last weekend.

The Black and Yellows will be looking for a comfortable win against their local rivals. But BVB have dropped points in this fixture in both seasons since Bochum’s promotion to the Bundesliga. Add to that their poor recent Bundesliga matchday two record, and this game has all the ingredients to be a difficult one for Edin Terzic’s side.

Borussia Dortmund do not have too many major injury concerns ahead of the game. Although Julian Ryerson is a doubt after picking up an injury last weekend. Thorgan Hazard and Marius Wolf are the candidates to replace him if needed.

Gio Reyna was able to participate in parts of team training on Thursday, which is a big boost for his hopes of returning to the squad soon. Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey remain sidelined for now.

Karim Adeyemi could replace Marco Reus in the starting XI after the former captain’s struggles against Köln.

Bochum have endured a nightmare start to the season and will look to turn the tide against Borussia Dortmund. New signing Keven Schlotterbeck (brother of Nico Schlotterbeck) is expected to slot straight into the starting XI. Felix Passlack could also face his former club on Saturday. The right-back joined VfL Bochum on a free transfer this summer. Lys Mousset is sidelined with an injury.
