Report: Niclas Füllkrug too expensive for Borussia Dortmund
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund could be priced out of a move for Werder Bremen striker Niclas Füllkrug, as they look for one last foray into the transfer market.
There are just two days left before the transfer window slams shut, and Borussia Dortmund are hoping to bolster their attacking ranks before that. Multiple reports in Germany claim that BVB are interested in signing Niclas Füllkrug. According to WAZ, however, Werder Bremen are asking for more than 20 million euros for the Germany international.
This would make Füllkrug too expensive for Borussia Dortmund, who only have around ten million euros left to spend. It also remains to be seen whether the 30 year old would be satisfied with a back-up role for the majority of the season, especially with the European Championship coming up next summer.
Borussia Dortmund also have other strikers on their list of targets. But it still remains to be seen whether they will be able to get their fourth signing of the summer over the line before Friday’s deadline.
Niclas Füllkrug was the joint-top goalscorer in the Bundesliga last season, finding the net on 16 occasions in 28 appearances for Werder Bremen. English Premier League side Fulham are also said to be interested in signing the striker.
Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be mulling a move for Armel Bella-Kotchap, with Sky Sport claiming that they have reached an agreement on personal terms with the defender. Although WAZ report that the BVB bosses have decided against signing the 21 year old due to Southampton’s high asking price.
