Borussia Dortmund’s home game against Werder Bremen in October is not expected to be rescheduled despite its close proximity to Germany’s tour to the United States.

The Germany national team is set to travel to the United States next month, where they will play friendly matches against the USMNT and Mexico. Many have criticised this decision and the lack of planning surrounding it, including Niklas Süle and Sebastian Kehl.

The reason for this is Borussia Dortmund’s home game against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, which will get underway just 64 hours after the conclusion of Germany’s friendly against Mexico in Philadelphia.

As many as eight BVB players could be in contention for a call-up to the Germany squad. Plus, Gio Reyna could also be in the USMNT squad for their friendly against Ghana in Nashville on the same day. This could seriously impact Edin Terzic’s plans for the game against Werder Bremen.

But according to WAZ, the Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen will not be postponed or rescheduled. This is because broadcaster DAZN does not want to miss out on airing a game featuring the Black and Yellows.

All Bundesliga games on Saturday are broadcast on Sky Sport, and Borussia Dortmund do not want to play on Sunday because they are due to travel to England on the following Tuesday to take on Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

So it is increasingly likely that several key players will have very little to no preparation time for Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga next month. Add to that the fatigue and jet lag caused by such long travel, and it could well be the perfect storm for BVB.
