Anthony Modeste has no regrets over Borussia Dortmund move

Anthony Modeste has said that he does not regret joining Borussia Dortmund despite failing to make his mark at the club.
Borussia Dortmund completed the shock signing of Anthony Modeste from FC Köln last summer following Sebastien Haller’s cancer diagnosis. But the veteran striker wasn’t able to make the desired impact at BVB, and managed just two goals in 28 appearances for the club.
The Black and Yellows parted ways with the 35 year old after just one season, and have since replaced him with Niclas Füllkrug.
But Modeste has now stated that he does not think joining Borussia Dortmund for just one season was a mistake. In an interview with Sport1, the French striker said:
"“I understand that people might think that because my statistics were different in Dortmund, but for me BVB wasn’t a mistake. It was a great challenge for me, I finally played in the Champions League. And I fought for the title until the last matchday, so where exactly was the mistake?”"
Modeste hopes that Borussia Dortmund can win the Bundesliga title this season despite their poor start that has seen them draw two of their opening three matches.
"“The start hasn’t been as hoped, but they won’t give up. In life and in football, things can change quickly, in one direction or another.”"
As for his own career, Anthony Modeste is currently a free agent. But he is still determined to take on another challenge. He has been linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in recent days. But it appears that he is on his way to Egypt, with reports claiming that he is in advanced talks to join Al-Ahly.
