Borussia Dortmund will begin their UEFA Champions League campaign on Tuesday as they take on French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The UEFA Champions League is all set to get underway on Tuesday, and a tough assignment away to Paris Saint-Germain awaits Borussia Dortmund first up. Edin Terzic’s side managed to claim a much-needed win against SC Freiburg on Saturday, even if the performance left a lot to be desired.

Borussia Dortmund will now hope to get their Champions League campaign off to a strong start against PSG, who are the favourites to win the group. The Black and Yellows may have to make do without Ramy Bensebaini on Tuesday after he picked up a muscle issue during the game against Freiburg. Although the left-back has traveled to Paris.

Niclas Füllkrug, Felix Nmecha and Marco Reus will be hoping to play from the start against PSG after coming off the bench and making a strong impact on Saturday. Gio Reyna has also made the trip to Paris and could be in the squad on Tuesday.

Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for their UEFA Champions League group stage opener against PSG.

Gregor Kobel will line-up between the sticks for Borussia Dortmund and could well be in for a busy evening, with the likes of Randal Kolo Muani, Kylian Mbappe, and Ousmane Dembele all part of the PSG attack.

Mats Hummels impressed on both ends of the pitch against Freiburg and is set to start again on Tuesday. One of Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle will partner the veteran centre-back against PSG, and it will be interesting to see who gets the nod.

Ramy Bensebaini’s fitness will determine Edin Terzic’s plans for the full-back positions. If the Algerian international is unable to feature, Marius Wolf would come into the team. Julian Ryerson would then switch over to left-back. Both full-backs will need to be at the top of their game on Tuesday if Borussia Dortmund are to stand any chance of getting the three points.

BVB captain Emre Can will start in defensive midfield, with Marcel Sabitzer also likely to get another opportunity in the middle of the park. Julian Brandt will start in attacking midfield, and will be crucial with his set-pieces and ability to make things happen going forward.

We will likely see at least one change to Borussia Dortmund’s front three, with Niclas Füllkrug expected to replace Sebastien Haller in the number nine role.

Donyell Malen scored again on Saturday and will start out wide, while Karim Adeyemi’s blistering pace on the counter-attack could give him the edge over Felix Nmecha and Marco Reus.
