Expected Borussia Dortmund lineup vs Wolfsburg
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund will be in action against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this weekend, looking to return to winning ways and get momentum back on side.
Another tough test lies in store for Borussia Dortmund this weekend as they take on Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellows will know that they cannot afford to drop points, but Niko Kovac’s in-form Wolfsburg side will certainly not make things easy for them.
Edin Terzic will likely revert to a back four on Saturday, with Niclas Füllkrug expected to come into the team and make his first start for Borussia Dortmund. Marcel Sabitzer picked up a muscle injury against PSG and will miss the Wolfsburg game. Felix Nmecha could replace him in the starting XI against his former club.
Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for their Bundesliga clash against Wolfsburg this weekend.
Gregor Kobel is set to start in goal and could be in for another tricky assignment, with Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind in excellent form at the moment.
Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck were the pick of the BVB defenders on Tuesday and should start against Wolfsburg. Niklas Süle and Marius Wolf will likely drop out of the starting XI, although the former could be an option for the right-back role if Ramy Bensebaini is not ready to play from the start. Julian Ryerson will start on the opposite flank.
We will see at least one change in midfield, with Marcel Sabitzer sidelined due to injury. Felix Nmecha had a game to forget against PSG but is likely to start against his former club. Marco Reus could be another option, but it remains to be seen if Edin Terzic would be willing to field two attacking midfielders in the middle of the park.
Emre Can will start in defensive midfield, with Julian Brandt set to feature in the number eight role once again.
Donyell Malen will start out wide, looking to build on his three goals in four Bundesliga appearances so far this season. Karim Adeyemi hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to the season, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could replace him in the team if Terzic decides to switch things up.
Up front, we will likely Niclas Füllkrug in the starting XI with Sebastien Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko waiting in reserve.
