Borussia Dortmund vs AC Milan: UEFA Champions League Team News, Preview
By Tushar Bahl
The UEFA Champions League returns to the Westfalenstadion this week as Borussia Dortmund take on Italian giants AC Milan.
Borussia Dortmund will go up against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday, looking to open their account in the competition. Having lost to PSG two weeks ago, the Black and Yellows will view this as a must-win game.
AC Milan were held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United on matchday one and will also be eager to get the three points on Wednesday. They are currently second in the Serie A standings, and claimed a 2-0 win over Lazio this past weekend.
Edin Terzic is unlikely to make too many changes to the starting XI after BVB’s two wins in a row. Marcel Sabitzer, Mateu Morey and Thomas Meunier are all sidelined with injuries at the moment. Marco Reus will hope to continue his fine run of form, having scored in each of his side’s last three Bundesliga matches.
Former Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic is set to start for AC Milan on Wednesday on the back of his goal against Lazio. He will be joined by one-time BVB targets Rafael Leão and Olivier Giroud in attack.
AC Milan will be without Ismaël Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pierre Kalulu against Dortmund. But former Schalke 04 defender Malick Thiaw should return to the starting XI.
