Gregor Kobel has signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Borussia Dortmund have received a massive boost with Gregor Kobel deciding to extend his contract. The goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a new contract until the end of the 2027/28 season and the extension makes him one of the club’s highest paid players.

Extending Kobel’s contract was one of Borussia Dortmund’s top priorities for this year, with the goalkeeper enjoying a meteoric rise since his move from VfB Stuttgart in 2021. The 25 year old has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga, and his performances have seen him attract the interest of big clubs like Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea.

But Kobel has now decided to stay at Borussia Dortmund, where he is also the vice-captain behind Emre Can. The Switzerland international believes that the Black and Yellows have the potential to win titles. And he is determined to help lead the team towards that goal.

"“I’m an emotional guy, Dortmund is an insanely emotional place, and the Signal Iduna Park is an incredibly emotional stadium. I think we just fit really well together.”“What’s more, I have the feeling that I’m not done here yet! After what we all experienced in Dortmund at the end of last season, I have to say: This team has the potential to win titles if every single person pushes themselves. On this path, I want to be one of the players in our squad over the next few years who leads the way every day, so that we can then celebrate something big together at some point.”"
