Mats Hummels could earn his first Germany cap since 2021 as he is set to be included in the squad for their friendly matches against the United States and Mexico.

Mats Hummels is set to make a spectacular return to the Germany squad for their upcoming friendly matches against the United States and Mexico. This is being reported by BILD, who add that new head coach Julian Nagelsmann wants to give the 34 year old an opportunity in the Germany squad following his impressive start to the season with Borussia Dortmund.

Hummels last represented the Germany national team at the European Championship in 2021. He was left out by Hansi Flick for the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite his excellent run of form. But he is now set to receive the opportunity to add to his 76 Germany caps under Nagelsmann.

According to the tabloid, Emre Can will be left out of the upcoming Germany squad after losing his place in the Borussia Dortmund starting XI. The BVB captain has endured a difficult start to the season.

Karim Adeyemi and Nico Schlotterbeck will also be left out by Nagelsmann, but former BVB winger Chris Führich is set for his first call-up to the Germany squad after making an excellent start to the season with Stuttgart.
