Following a wretched display in Der Klassiker last week, Borussia Dortmund maintained the same level of performance against Stuttgart on Saturday. Despite taking the lead, the Black and Yellows never looked to be in control and ultimately fell to a deserved 2-1 defeat.

The loss against the Stuttgart means that Borussia Dortmund have 21 points after 11 matches in the Bundesliga this season, and have dropped points in their last three games.

More worrying than staying behind in the title race is the lack of convincing football and inability to put their stamp on matches. Stuttgart were able to dominate proceedings from the outset on Saturday, taking advantage of Borussia Dortmund’s passive approach and tired legs.

The final score certainly does not translate what actually happened, and it was thanks in large part to Gregor Kobel that BVB avoided suffering what could well have been a more embarrassing defeat.

After losing to two direct opponents and dropping crucial points, the international break comes at a good time for Edin Terzic. He needs to regroup and plan a better strategy to surpass this moment of crisis amidst the increasing pressure.

Here are some takeaways from the Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat to Stuttgart.
