The Switzerland national team has announced that Gregor Kobel has pulled out of their squad due to muscular problems.
Borussia Dortmund will be sweating on the fitness of Gregor Kobel after the goalkeeper was forced to withdraw from the Switzerland squad ahead of their UEFA European Championship qualifier against Kosovo. Switzerland have announced that Kobel is dealing with muscular problems, but have not yet revealed how serious the injury is or how long he will be sidelined for.
Kobel will stay with the Switzerland national team till Sunday before traveling back to Dortmund. Anthony Racioppi has been called up by Switzerland as a replacement.
The Black and Yellows will certainly hope that Kobel’s injury is not a serious one. The 25 year old has featured in all 17 of BVB’s games so far this season, and has been one of the team’s top performers. He has led from the front and delivered a number of key saves for his side.
Borussia Dortmund’s next game will see them go up against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday, November 25. The hope will be that Gregor Kobel can return to full fitness in time for that game. More updates on the goalkeeper’s availability will likely be provided by the club in due course.
Edin Terzic’s side are currently fifth in the Bundesliga standings, having failed to win their last three matches in the league. BVB have a number of crunch matches coming up following the international break, as they look to keep their season on track in all three competitions.
