Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi is likely to leave Signal Iduna Park soon as the German international has reportedly reached an agreement with FC Barcelona.
Talks are said to be ongoing as the Spanish champions are in advanced negotiations for Adeyemi, who would sign a five-year contract if a transfer is officially finalized.
Dortmund value him at about €40 million while Barcelona's earlier proposal was only €20 million. But there's growing optimism that the Catalans will eventually pull it off with Adeyemi also having stated his desire to play for them.
His departure would leave a void that Die Borussen will be aiming to cement and here are some players who could come in to replace Karim Adeyemi this summer:
3) Said El Mala
One player linked with Borussia Dortmund lately is FC Koln star Said El Mala. The 19-year-old's breakout 2025-26 campaign in the Bundesliga has made him a hot commodity in the transfer market as he struck 13 goals and made five more assists from 34 games and played a vital role in helping the Billy Goats secure top-flight survival.
However, one big hurdle in any potential move involving El Mala is his exorbitant asking price. Koln demand at least €50 million for him, a figure that's much higher than even Borussia Dortmund's most expensive outlay of €35 million for Ousmane Dembele from Rennes in 2016.
2) Anis Hadj Moussa
Another potential replacement for Adeyemi could be Anis Hadj Moussa, Algeria's rising star. The 24-year-old scored 11 goals and made six assists from 30 games for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie last season and was called up to his country's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup too, in the lead up to which Moussa scored against the Netherlands and Bolivia.
He, too, isn't coming cheap with Feyenoord valuing him at €30 million. Head coach Noureddine Ould Ali had mentioned last month that Moussa is 'fully ready' to test himself in a side that plays in Europe's top-five leagues. However, it's unclear if Dortmund would be willing to meet his asking price.
1) Samuel Chukwueze
This one might feel far-fetched, but it's still a possibility. Samuel Chukwueze had recently decided to stay put at AC Milan after rejecting €15 million from Turkish side Trabzonspor but the Rossoneri are rumored to be open to selling him if a better offer arrives.
Borussia Dortmund, with the allure of Champions League football, are obviously a more attractive prospect than Trabzonspor. He's 27 and in the prime of his career. A move to Signal Iduna Park might just be the change that unlocks his true potential.
