Borussia Dortmund boast an envious list of strikers to have donned their fabled black and yellow, and Serhou Guirassy's acquisition in 2024 certainly continued that tradition.
Roped in for €18 million from VfB Stuttgart, the Guinean international has repaid every penny since then. Leading the BVB attacking vanguard with aplomb, Guirassy has scored 60 goals from 96 games, including 38 in the Bundesliga from 63.
But despite his strong run and talismanic displays, there's some uncertainty over his future at the club. The striker has a contract until 2028 but the rumor mill has been rife with reports that he's made up his mind to leave the club this summer.
Should the prospect come to pass, Dortmund will once again be left to look for another prolific goalscorer upfront who can carry their ambitions on his broad shoulders and bang in the goods left, right and centre. But who could that be?
Here are three possible replacements for Guirassy:
1) Fisnik Asllani
While Andrej Kramaric has long been Hoffenheim's chief goalscorer, Fisnik Asllani has quitely managed to turn a corner too. In the 2025-26 season, he even struck 10 goals.
Asllani's physical strengths combined with aerial ability make him a perfect fit for the role at Dortmund, while he's also a good at creating goals, having assisted nine times in 2025-26.
2) Nick Woltemade
One name that has been linked with Signal Iduna Park a lot this season is Nick Woltemade, who only joined Premier League side Newcastle United last summer for a staggering £65 million transfer from VfB Stuttgart.
However, a return of just eight goals in 32 league games has led to many labeling him an expensive flop. Although the Magpies are unlikely to sell him right away, a loan move could be on the cards and BVB might seek to bring him back to Bundesliga.
3) Deniz Undav
Dortmund could turn to Stuttgart once again just as they did with Guirassy two years ago. Because Die Roten have another sharp-shooter in their ranks in Deniz Undav, a name that gave the Black and Yellows a real nightmare this season.
Undav famously netted a hat-trick in their pulsating 3-3 draw at the Signal Iduna Park back in November, before eventually finishing with 19 goals for the Bundesliga season. That's two more than even Guirassy and the most in the division behind only Bayern Munich's Harry Kane (36).
Need we say more?
