Borussia Dortmund star Serhou Guirassy has reportedly been linked with Serie A side AC Milan as the striker's future at the Signal Iduna Park is currently facing uncertainty.
The 30-year-old's contract with the BVB runs until June 2028 but there have been reports earlier this season that he could be on the chopping block this season as the club aims for a squad overhaul.
Milan are said to be monitoring his situation closely as the Italian giants aim to bolster their attacking vanguard for next season. However, this is still only a rumor as negotiations are yet to fully hit the ground.
The Rossoneri are currently battling to secure a place in the Champions League, the prospects of which have come under uncertainty following their recent struggles with AS Roma closing the gap.
Should the side finish outside of the top four places in Serie A, it could dissuade Guirassy from joining them as the Guinean international would see Champions League football as a good incentive after playing in the competition for two consecutive years at Dortmund.
While Il Diavolo have had no issues finding goals - their tally of 50 goals in Serie A after 36 games is bettered only five teams in the division - having Guirassy in their ranks would still inject enormous firepower into their attack.
The 30-year-old has developed a stellar reputation for being one of the most clinical penalty box strikers at Dortmund, with his intelligent movement inside the area coupled with devastating finishing skills giving even the most resolute defenses a serious run for their money.
His first season at Dortmund yielded 38 goals in 50 games, including a season-high of 13 in the Champions League. And while his output has declined this season, Guirassy remains Dortmund's top-scorer with 21 goals.
However, he won't come cheap. Guirassy is currently valued at €40 million by Transfermarkt and Milan could think carefully before making such a big outlay. Plus, he's 30 now and doesn't have many years left at the top of his game.
A fresh challenge in Serie A, a league he hasn't played in yet, can be appealing. But if the Italian side pulls out of the race to sign him, the Guinean forward can still expect to have a few other suitors who are seeking an experienced number 9 to lead their side.
Guirassy returns to action for one last time this season on Saturday against Weder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
