Arsenal are reportedly upping the ante in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt, who is set to be available in the market for free this summer.

His contract with the BVB is set to expire next month as Brandt looks for newer pastures after seven years with the Bundesliga giants.

Now the Gunners are moving forward with their interest by reportedly making a formal offer of €7-8 million-a-year to price him away from other interested parties such as Aston Villa and Barcelona.

According to a report by German news outlet Fussballdaten, Mikel Arteta's side are determined to fight off challenges for the player and bring him to Emirates.

They also have a significant bonus on the table to further tempt him into joining them.

Aston Villa are said to make a lucrative contract offer for Brandt, but Barcelona seemingly have the advantage over the Premier League sides as the player wants a LaLiga move.

The Catalans were recently crowned Spanish champions for the second year in a row as the promise of a silverware can be appealing for Brandt, who has picked up just one title in seven years at Dortmund: a DFB-Pokal in 2021.

Though they have some solid options in the No.10 role such as Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick wants to strengthen his options further by roping in a player of experience and quality, and Brandt offers both.

The German international has developed into one of the most menacing attacking midfielders at Dortmund for his ability to link-up plays with fellow advance players, his wonderful passing range and excellent vision.

So Villa also see him as an ideal candidate to fill in if Morgan Rogers leaves, which appears increasingly likely with each passing week. As Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott also seemingly going to depart, the club also needs reinforcements and Brandt is seen as someone who could take over their midfield's talismanic mantle.

But right now, it's Arsenal who are trying their best to get a transfer materialized. The Gunners, are willing to offer him wages similar to what he currently earns at Borussia Dortmund, in addition to some signing bonus too.

Arsenal are agonizingly close to winning their first Premier League title in 22 years and if the side does indeed clinch it, the prospect of playing for the reigning English champions would bring a sense of esteem with it.
