Borussia Dortmund lost the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup to Bayern Munich after going down 2-1 at the Signal Iduna Park, missing a chance to begin their new campaign with a trophy.

Goals from Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise gave the Bavarians a two-goal cushion before Fabio Silva pulled one back for the BVB in the second half.

Both teams missed a couple of good chances after the break, with Olise and Maximilian Beier coming close for their sides in stoppage-time.

The loss means Niko Kovac's wait for a first trophy with Die Borussen continued. Here are the player ratings for Dortmund.

Ratings for Dortmund's starting lineup:

Gregor Kobel - 8: Dortmund's MVP with eight saves on the day, including a stoppage-time save on Olise to deny Bayern a late winner.

Joane Gadou - 7: Left everything on the field, making five clearances and seven recoveries, but came up woefully short in duels.

Waldemar Anton - 7: With 10 defensive contributions on the day, the German was BVB's their chief linchpin at the back whilst also setting up Beier for a glorious chance in stoppage-time.

Ramy Bensebaini - 5: His clearance on Olise led to Bayern's first goal and was sent off in the 90th minute for a rash challenge on Saibari.

Daniel Svensson - 7: Ran like a horse all evening and set up Silva for his goal in the second half.

Jobe Bellingham - 6.5: Made a poor pass that led to Olise's goal but somewhat made up for it by tracking him down on the counter in the 93rd minute and making sure he didn't score again.

Felix Nmecha - 6.5: Struggled to control midfield against Bayern's marauding players, but made a fearsome effort in the second half that needed Neuer's intervention.

Julian Ryerson - 6: Roughed up Olise with challenge after challenge, but was lucky to have never received a booking; sent in a free kick that Bensebaini headed hom but got ruled out for offside.

Konstantinos Karetsas - 7: The wonderkid laid four crosses on the night and one key passes; an encouraging club debut.

Samuele Inacio - 6: Fought tooth and nail for possession, winning five of his six ground duels, but no direct impact offensively.

Serhou Guirassy - 5.5: Couldn't quite get the touch on a lovely ball from Konstantelias in the second half; well below his best.

Ratings for Dortmund's substitutes

Giannis Konstantelias - 7

Maximilian Beier - 6

Joey Veerman - 6.5

Fabio Silva - 7.5
