Borussia Dortmund conceded a two-goal lead in the dying stages to draw 2-2 with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Friday, marking an end to their winning start in the competition this season.
Daniel Svensson put them 1-0 up after 80 minutes before Nico Schlotterbeck doubled their advantage five minutes later with a close-range header from Joey Veerman's corner.
The River Islanders fought back through Ludovit Reis in the 88th minute from a Schlotterbeck mistake, while Niclas Fullkrug made it 2-2 in stoppage time to mark a heroic return to his old stomping ground in Dortmund.
As we've seen many times before, the BVB once again failed to close the game out and were made to pay for it through Bremen's late revival. Here are 10 key stats from the entertaining draw:
1) Nico Schlotterbeck bags his first goal of the Bundesliga season; he was the top-scorer in the competition among the defenders alongside teammate Ramy Bensebaini. This was also his second goal five league appearances.
2) Dortmund's winning run might have ended, but they remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga after the opening five games for the second year in a row and a fifth time in the last 10 years.
3) With Fabio Silva and Joey Veerman coming off the bench to bag two assists, the BVB subs have already contributed a total of five this season.
4) Though it was rather fortuitous, Silva's assist means he's now directly contributed to six goals this season from seven appearances in all competitions.
5) By laying an inch-perfect corner for Schlotterbeck's goal, Joey Veerman bagged his first assist in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund this August.
6) With two goals conceded last night, it marked just the second time this season that Dortmund conceded multiple times in a single match; Hoffenheim scored twice against them on matchday two.
7) Daniel Svensson marked his 50th appearance for the club with a goal, his fourth in the Bundesliga with Dortmund and an eighth overall.
8) The draw was Dortmund's first in the Bundesliga since an identical 2-2 stalemate with RB Leipzig in February, 16 games ago.
9) This was the second 2-2 draw between Dortmund and Bremen from their last four games and a third stalemate in their last five meetings.
10) Except for the Stuttgart game, which the BVB won 1-0, they have scored at least twice in all other four Bundesliga matches this season.
