Borussia Dortmund's perfect start to the season ended in a rather limp fashion on Friday as they let a two-goal lead slip late on to draw 2-2 with Werder Bremen.

After going the first 80 minutes without a goal, the BVB struck twice over the next five minutes through Daniel Svensson and Nico Schlotterbeck to seemingly clinch the tie.

Bremen fought back in the 88th minute when Ludovit Reis reduced the deficit from Schlotterbeck's error, before Niclas Fullkrug made it 2-2 with a header in the 92nd minute.

Here are the player ratings for Borussia Dortmund:

Gregor Kobel - 6: Spent much of the night untroubled but was helpless to both of Bremen's late goals

Joane Gadou - 7: Completed over 100 passes to play a key role in building attacks while also getting a shot on target late on.

Waldemar Anton - 7: Stationed himself high up and kept the ball circulating as Dortmund enjoyed a sustained period of pressure at various points in the match; stepped up when Bremen threatened, making two interceptions and four clearances.

Nico Schlotterbeck: 7: Recovered from his injury faster than expected and threw the kitchen sink at Bremen with his directness; four shots in the match and one goal, but saw one pass late on intercepted which led to Bremen's first goal of the night.

Maximilian Beier - 7.5: Punched holes in Bremen's defense with line-breaking passes and created four chances in the game, but missed a few himself.

Jobe Bellingham - 6: Timed his tackles to perfection and disrupted Bremen's rhythm from time to time.

Felix Nmecha - 6.5: Helped build pressure on the River Islanders by being proactive member of Dortmund's passing game; created two chances too but let Reis just race past hime in the build-up to Bremen's first goal.

Daniel Svensson - 7: Scored the BVB's first of the night by getting into the right place at the right time to turn home Serhou Guirassy's layoff which Fabio Silva failed to convert.

Ethan Nwaneri - 7: Vibrant in attack, but lacked the cutting edge to make his chances count; scored a spectacular bicycle kick which was ruled out for foul in the build-up.

Marcel Sabitzer - 7.5: Pressed their visitors tirelessly and came close to scoring on a few occasions.

Serhou Guirassy - 6: A frustrating night for the Guinean ace; none of his three real attempts came to fruition but played a crucial role in their first goal with a lovely run from the right.

Substitutes

Fabio Silva - 7

Konstantinos Karetsas - 6.5
