Bodo/Glimt added another notable scalp to their ever-increasing list of European upsets after beating Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Fredrik Sjovold struck the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute as the BVB struggled to leave a mark on Aspmyra Stadium's artifical turf.

Head coach Niko Kovac made a few changes to his lineup which later received plenty of flak as Serhou Guirassy, Felix Nmecha, Marcel Sabitzer and Ethan Nwaneri were all dropped to the bench whereas Nico Schlotterbeck was rested.

While Dortmund were in top gear but lacking in clinical edge in their draw with Werder Bremen last weekend, they were kept on the backfoot right from the off here as Bodo came flying out of the blocks. In fact, their first attempted shot was registered after just 23 seconds into the kick-off.

The BVB's defense was all over the place, lacking any semblance of organization or composure, and repeatedly getting exposed in behind by Bodo's marauding wingers.

They are now the latest European giant to have lost to the Superlaget since they made their Champions League debut last year; the fifth different team that the Norwegian outfit have beaten in the competition.

Dortmund, the fifth side to lose to Bodo/Glimt

Bodo/Glimt's Champions League debut was unsurprisingly going haywire in 2025 when they failed to win any of their first six matches. But then came a massive turnaround in fortunes which truly shook Europe.

They began 2026 with a stunning 3-1 defeat of Manchester City, before traveling to face Atletico Madrid and coming away with a shock 2-1 win in the Spanish capital which secured their place in the knockout playoffs.

Here, the Superlaget came up against Serie A champions Inter Milan and continued their meteoric rise by beating the Nerazzurri home and away to secure a comprehensive 5-2 victory on aggregate.

Bodo/Glimt then drew Portuguese giants Sporting CP in the Round of 16 and picked up their fourth consecutive win with a 3-0 vanquish of their visitors in Bodo, although that run ended with a spectacular 5-0 implosion in Lisbon.

Their new season in the Champions League began on the same note, against Dortmund's traditional rivals Bayern Munich, who crushed them with five unanswered goals as Bodo's dream run appeared to have ended.

But on Wednesday, the Norwegian side were back in their element, adding Dortmund to their list of giant-killing feats, and particularly on home turf.
