Borussia Dortmund had a thrilling 2025-26 season that saw them set numerous records and reach new milestones. Although a silverware was still lacking, head coach Niko Kovac's first full-season in charge of the club showed great promise for potentially trophy-laden years ahead.

The BVB led by an example in defense, conceding the least number of goals in the Bundesliga while also demonstrating their frightening attacking quality that blew teams out of the park.

They weren't perfect, but were certainly entertaining to watch as always. Here are their best games of the 2025-26 season in all competitions:

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Athletic Bilbao

While their Champions League campaign ended unexpectedly and rather prematurely, Borussia Dortmund had begun the same on a blistering fashion. On matchday two, they beat LaLiga side Athletic Bilbao 4-1 at home, running riot in the second half.

Daniel Svensson put them 1-0 up in the first half before Carney Chukwuemeka doubled their advantage shortly into the second half. Gorka Guruzeta pulled one back for Los Leones in the 61st minute to reduce the deficit, but late strikes from Serhou Guirassy and Julian Brandt added gloss to the scorelines.

Borussia Dortmund 4-0 Villarreal

After getting crushed 4-1 by Manchester City in their last game, Der BVB came into the fixture knowing they needed a strong response here which they delivered and then some. Villarreal were a stronger opposition than Bilbao but on the field, it didn't quite look like it.

Once again, the first half was rather close with Guirassy netting once in stoppage-time to put them in front at the break before doubling their advantage in the second half. Karim Adeyemi and Daniel Svensson joined in on the fun as the Yellow Submarine were blown away.

Borussia Dortmund 4-0 Freiburg

The joint-biggest win of their Bundesliga season, the Black and Yellows responded after consecutive defeats in clinical fashion, knocking Freiburg for four to seal a top-four finish as well as a Champions League spot in style.

Maximilian Beier, Guirassy and Ramy Bensebaini all netted apiece in a dominant first-half display to effectively seal the tie, while Fabio Silva came off the bench to score on late on and make it 4-0 for just the second time in the league.

Juventus 4-4 Borussia Dortmund

Sure this was a draw, but to score four times away to Juventus is no mean feat. In fact, Borussia Dortmund are the first team to pull it off in the Champions League, which sounds exceptional considering even big names like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have failed to do.

With the first-half ending goalless, the match turned into a pulsating goal-fest in the second with Dortmund twice relinquishing their lead. Yan Couto and Bensebaini made it 4-2 as the BVB were headed towards an unlikely win, but a late collapse allowed Juventus to snatch a point.
