Nico Schlotterbeck put in a solid shift for Germany against the Netherlands, while Ramy Bensebaini scored the winning goal for Algeria on Monday.

Germany secured their place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League with a 1-0 win over the Netherlands on Monday evening. VfB Stuttgart's Jamie Leweling scored the winning goal on his debut for Germany, helping Julian Nagelsmann's side maintain their unbeaten run despite dealing with a number of absences.

A solid defensive performance aided Germany's win, with Nico Schlotterbeck impressing on his return to the starting XI. He was partnered by the experienced Antion Rüdiger in the heart of the Germany defence.

Waldemar Anton once again came off the bench for Germany late in the game, while Pascal Groß was an unused substitute as Nagelsmann fielded Aleksandar Pavlović and Angelo Stiller in midfield. Donyell Malen came on at half-time and nearly scored the equalising goal for the Netherlands in the 90th minute. But his shot from outside the box was brilliantly saved by Oliver Baumann.

Ramy Bensebaini was also in action on Monday and scored the winning goal for Algeria from the penalty spot as they claimed a 1-0 win over Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Borussia Dortmund left-back was deployed at centre-back once again.

Meanwhile, Maximilian Beier has pulled out of the Germany U-21s squad due to illness and will miss their game against Poland. The Borussia Dortmund forward was on target for the Germany U-21s against Bulgaria last week.
