Borussia Dortmund are currently in the midst of a busy transfer saga with sporting director Nils-Ole Book even refusing to fly with the squad to Japan for their pre-season tour as the club looks to ramp up their transfer objectives.
So far, Justin Lerma, Kaua Prates and Joane Gadou are the only new signings announced by the club, who have also roped in a few teenagers like Takato Yamamoto but they are set for a spell with the reserve side for now.
Having seen a promising Bundesliga campaign fizzle out towards the end last term, Niko Kovac's side are aiming to mount a sustained assault on the Meisterschale in the 2026-27 season and challenge defending champions Bayern Munich.

5) Jude Bellingham - €30.15 million
Despite his accomplishments at Birmingham City during the 2019-20 season, Jude Bellingham remained a relatively unknown name beyond the St Andrew's. So Borussia Dortmund splashing over €30million on him raised eyebrows. But over the next three years, it made perfect sense.
Those electric runs, thunderous goals and stormy passes still reverberate across Signal Iduna Park as Bellingham left an indelible mark on the home crowd. 132 appearances and a handful of goals later, Real Madrid priced him away for a commendable €103million fee in 2023.
4) Jobe Bellingham - €30.5 million
Slightly more expensive than Jude Bellingham is his own brother Jobe, who joined from Sunderland last year after impressing in the Championship with his attacking exploits. But the 20-year-old was unable to replicate that in his first full season with the BVB last term, failing to bag a single goal in 45 games. Still too early to judge.
3) Mats Hummels - €30.5 million
After spending seven years at Borussia Dortmund, Mats Hummels joined Bayern Munich in 2016 but was unable to fully settle in his new side as the prodigal son returned to Signal Iduna Park three years later on a substantial fee.
The defender's second spell was marked by numerous records and milestones, such as crossing 500 appearances for the club and becoming the oldest German to ever score in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, as well as reaching the competition's 2024 final.
2) Sebastien Haller - €31 million
A lot was expected from this transfer but an unfortunate battle with cancer delayed Sebastien Haller's Dortmund debut by more than six months. But the Ivorian impressed in his first year, netting nine Bundesliga goals from 19 games.
More misfortune followed him next season as Haller succumbed to an ankle injury that sidelined him for much of the 2023-24 campaign. A loan move to Spanish side Leganes followed before another one with Utrecht, who later signed him permanently. He's now joined Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
1) Ousmane Dembele - €35 million
This man needs no introduction. Fresh off a splendid 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with France, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner originally shot to fame during his brief-but-memorable spell with Borussia Dortmund in 2016-17 season. Signed from Rennes for a club record fee of €35 million, the Frenchman soon became their creative chieftain with 21 assists while bagging another 10 goals.
Barcelona came calling for his services and priced him away just a year later for a mammoth €105million.
